JANUARY 5, 2014: I spent time one day muscle testing to see what, if any, herbs Shannon was needing to take. I was hoping that she could reduce the number of supplements her body is needing by taking herbs instead. I found only two herbs that she is needing -
Goldenseal root and
Astragalus. And, I was disappointed to learn (via muscle testing) that neither could be used as a substitute for any of the supplements she is having to take. I did some research and discovered that the Goldenseal root is used for many ailments and symptoms. Those symptoms listed that applied to Shannon are
- cold symptoms
- digestive disorders
- diarrhea
- hemorrhoids
- liver disorder
- cancer
- Chronic Fatigue Synddrome
- menstrual period problems
- skin rash
Further testing and I learned that the Goldenseal root can be used instead of the oscillococcinum - a homeopathic medicine that Shannon and I both were taking on occasion. It is a product that can be found on the internet or any health food store should have it. It is very effective for flu-like symptoms, such as body aches, headache, fever, chills, and fatigue. I was encouraged by that find since I prefer to take the herb rather than a remedy. And, hopefully, it should be cost effective as well.
The astragalus will benefit Shannon in these areas according to WebMD:
- enhance the immune system
- as an adjunctive therapy for cancer
- therapy for heart disease
- benefit the liver
It really concerned me when muscle testing indicated heart disease. Apparently (per muscle testing) she has had the heart disease since birth but it is treatable and curable if she continues on the course that she is on.
A friend of mine gave me a list of supplements that are supposed to be good for the heart: CoQ-10, L-carnatine, D-Ribose, magnesium, fish oil and curcumin. Shannon is taking sufficient CoQ-10, curcumin, magnesium but MT indicates she doesn't need the L-carnatine, the D-ribose or the fish oil. Her body prefers the coconut oil and the Evening Primrose Oil over the fish oil or the flaxseed oil.
Here is a list of Shannon's supplemental protocol. We list it here because it will change in time. The 'level of need' is included because we have learned that it is helpful to find out to what degree that some medicine or supplement is needed. For instance, if we get a 'yes' answer when we ask, "Does Shannon need this?" Then we ask "What is the level of need on scale of one to ten?" Or, "What degree does she need this, with 1 being 'not much' to 10 being 'very much'? Even though the scale is on 1 to 10 for some strange reason when we muscle test the answer we get on occasion is greater than 10. So I guess an eleven would be 'very, very much', a twelve would be 'very, very, very much' and so on.
